This June, Babbacombe Bay is the place to be. This beautiful part of Torbay, encompassing the villages of Babbacombe and St Marychurch, is holding its 3rd annual Festival and this year it's going to be better than ever.
The 12-day Festival starts on Wednesday 17th June with the ever-popular Babbacombe Fayre on Babbacombe Downs. These cliff-top gardens are at the heart of Babbacombe Bay and command spectacular views of the Bay and the East Devon coastline. From here it's only a short walk to interesting, independent shopping in St Marychurch Precinct or Babbacombe, or spectacular family attractions Babbacombe Model Village, Bygones, Kents Cavern and Babbacombe Theatre. And don't forget Oddicombe Beach, accessible from the Downs on foot or via the Cliff Railway and Babbacombe Beach, a favourite with divers.
This year we're hoping that the Festival will have something for everyone. Events planned include the Babbacombe Corinthian sailing regatta, a local history exhibition, healthy living fair, lots of music and fun days and fayres galore! The programme can be viewed here, but as this is being constantly updated with new events, please keep checking back.
Whether you are a Devon local or planning a June holiday on the English Riviera the 2009 Babbacombe Festival is not to be missed. See you in the summer!
